Continuing the Hemptech philosophy of promoting the very best of New Zealand design, Sea Urchins has been created for Hemptech by Jade Culton a young New Zealand designer.
The sea urchins or kina which gave Jade inspiration for the design are found on rocky shores around the New Zealand coast and have been a traditional source of food for Maori and a delicacy for many others. Their beautiful shapes and interesting textures suspended in the gently flowing water combine to make a unique design. A finely woven 100% Eco Linen fabric is used as a base cloth, soft and floating, representing the moving waters around the shores where the sea urchins are found. The colourways that work so well on the light linen fabric are drawn from the natural colours of their surrounds, both shore and sea. Lizzo's new collection, inspired in the baroque period of the 18th century, relives with ROMANTIC from a contemporary optic with big floral motifs.
